The book contains explanation of the notation, history, and interpretation on how a song might be played. This work is organized into four major groups of "Klezmer" tunes: 1. Walking tunes, khosid'ls, terkishes, and other slow-ish tunes. 2. Horas. 3. Freylakhs, Bulgars and other up_tempo tunes. 4. Related Genres of Music.
 
The word "Klezmer" is derived from the Hebrew words "klay" and "zemer" meaning "tools of music". The current meaning of Klezmer music is the music of Central and Eastern Europe.
